Oak Ridge Science Semester
For general information about Oak Ridge National Laboratory (including a map of the X-10 complex, a map showing the route from Oak Ridge to the X-10 complex, and links to other maps of the area), see the ORNL home page {http://www.ornl.gov/}. The purpose of this section is to provide an introduction to the requirements placed on visitors to ORNL.
For anyone at ORNL for an extended length of time, probably the most important web site is the internal web page that ORNL provides for its employees. Unfortunately, since this web site is only accessible through the ORNL computer network (or off-site via a secure, authenticated connection), it will not be accessible until you are at ORNL. However, for future reference, you should note the following links:
-
The on-line ORNL employee directory. This is accessible through one of the most extensive directory search engines I have encountered.
-
The ORNL library home page {http://www.ornl.gov/info/library/}. ORNL maintains several research libraries in addition to providing on-line access to numerous research journals and databases that you are likely to use.
-
The ORNL employee training home page. This page contains links to various training procedures you will have to undergo. (This page is accessible outside of the ORNL computer network.)
The internal home page also contains links to on-line newsletters, announcements, local news and weather, and outside news sources.
