Since the events of 9/11, security at ORNL has been a particularly important concern. There is now a gatehouse five miles from the X-10 site and you will not be permitted onto the X-10 campus unless you have a valid ORNL security identification badge or are on the list of allowed visitors for the day. Additionally, access to buildings on the campus is controlled by a "Proximity Card". You will be issued both of these cards on the first Monday of the term. If you forget your badge or proximity card go to the Badging Office (Bldg. 5200) and request a temporary badge. Report lost or stolen badges to the Badging Office immediately.

Additionally, note that security personnel at the laboratory are likely to be armed. Should any security personnel give you instructions, follow them quickly and precisely. Security personnel may also search you as you leave the laboratory. Stealing property from the laboratory is a crime and may be grounds for your dismissal from the laboratory.
