COSTS
Program Comprehensive Fee: For all students, the Comprehensive Program fee will be approximately $14,400.
Students from GLCA colleges A non-refundable $400 deposit, due upon acceptance and payable to the Oak Ridge Science Semester office at Denison University, will be applied toward the Program Comprehensive Fee. Students pay the remainder of the Comprehensive Fee (plus any off-campus fees required by the home college) directly to their home GLCA college.
Students from ACM colleges A non-refundable $400 deposit, paid to ACM, is due upon acceptance and will be applied toward the total Comprehensive Fee. Students pay the remainder of the Comprehensive Fee (plus any off-campus fees required by the home college) directly to their home ACM college.
Student Stipend (Both GLCA and ACM)
Student Stipend: The Program Stipend for Fall 2003 will be $6,400. The housing allowance will be $1,400 for the semester. The amount of both the stipend and housing allowance are dependent on adequate funding from the U.S. Department of Energy and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Financial Policies and Other Costs (Both GLCA and ACM):
Financial Aid: In most cases, students receiving financial aid remain eligible for assistance and should consult their campus financial aid officer well in advance of the starting date of the Program.
Refund Policy: The Refund Policy is based on that set forth by Denison University.
Housing: Housing is provided in an apartment complex in Oak Ridge. Two students share a one-bedroom apartment and provide their own linens and kitchen utensils. The housing rent (approximately $1,400/semester) is paid by the ORSS in the form of a housing allowance.
Travel: Students are responsible for transportation to and from Oak Ridge and for all local travel to and from the laboratories. Because there is no local bus service, car pools are commonally used in commuting daily to and from ORNL.
Shuttle service from the Knoxville airport and bus service from downtown Knoxville to Oak Ridge are available.
Other Expenses: Students are responsible for their food, books and other personal expenses (estimated at $1,500).
